My father became ill during the early time this site was created and ultimately passed away early this year. I've been dealing with hospital trips at all hours of the day and night for a couple of years, so it has taken a toll. Dad would want me to get back to normal and start taking care of myself, so that is what I'm back doing a couple of months afterwards.
I decided to get back into the exergaming and decided to restart the process. I'm on day 8 of our exercising and decided to return here to document my journey.
The process has been rewarding. My energy level has increased and I'm feeling great that I've been able to get back and keep up with workouts every night that I can do this. Taking it slow and easy and not trying to push beyond what I feel I can do. I'll share the journey regularly here and with friends on Facebook too.

more in terms of more advanced moves in

that I've seen in Yoga.
I did do
some pretty advanced stretches in this

If you happen to take a look out there, Respondesign, the team who designed Maya and Yourself!Fitness, have updated their web site and it looks like they are embracing a whole new paradigm for their future!
From the looks of things, the company is now in a hiring mode and is working hard to come back! They seem to be looking for programmers and I think we may see big things from the creators of Maya in the not so distant future!
Here is hoping that happens. We sure love Maya! And a newer version of YF! would be great to see!

Well! As you can see, I've been away. But back I am and we're bringing this site back online in a big way!
Midway through my exercise program last September, I fell ill. I contracted H1N1 and was pretty darned sick for quite awhile. So this site fell into disuse. That flu was NASTY! And it took months to recover from the effects. Those who said it was nothing do not know what they are talking about. It made a lot of people sick over a long period of time.
Forward to Spring 2010. Feeling much improved and decided to step back into the exercise world. Of course, my first option was to jump back to Yourself!Fitness and it feels good to be working out.
So here is the deal. I'm making a contract with all of you. I'll stick this out if you offer encouragement or even join me in your journey of exercise. Given the healthcare bill that just "passed", we're on our own to be sure our health is as good as it can be, so why not take charge of your body and improve it as a preventative measure?
My other commitment will be to log exercises in this site in the forum area and to do so regularly. So after each workout, I'll post the results and what I think and carry forward with our push to better health!
I'll post the link here to the forum topic: Jon's Journal

From http://www.examiner.com/x-12739-LA-Parenting-Examiner~y2009m8d25-Fitness--Health--Better-Grades
The strong link between physical fitness and academic achievement, as reported by eMaxHealth, means that the way your family eats and exercises influences your child’s success at school. But the alarming number of overweight children—one in three, according to KidsHealth—tells us that raising a child with a healthy body weight is getting tougher.
The start of a new school year is a great time to introduce wholesome routines. Besides improving performance in the classroom, the healthy behaviors children learn will help them sustain optimum health as adults.
Carole Carson, the author of From Fat to Fit: Turn Yourself into a Weapon of Mass Reduction, says that parents’ homework is to teach and demonstrate healthy habits so that their children can do well at school. Here are three back-to-school tips for getting FIT:
F = Focus on fun: Fuel your child’s body with a nutritious breakfast. Encourage your child to pack his or her own lunch, choosing from healthy options. Stick smiley faces on the plastic bags containing vegetables or fruit. Replace soft drinks and sports drinks with water or milk. Buy your child’s favorite cereal, and add nuts and raisins to create a special trail mix. If your child eats at the school cafeteria, review the menus and help your child make healthful choices. Keep easy-to-eat fruits (such as bananas and apples) and vegetables (such as baby carrots) handy for after-school snacks.

From KOLD in Tuscon Arizona:
TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) - A new workout trend is happening in living rooms across America, but there are no sign up fees or monthly dues.
The Wii and similar game consoles are giving busy people the luxury of getting a workout in their own homes.
Everything from tennis to yoga to pilates can now be done in your living room. It is all a part of the new "exer-gaming" phenomenon.
The rest of the article can be viewed by clicking this LINK to visit and view the videos on the KOLD site.

Yourself Fitness Fan Site (also My Fitness Coach) Yourself!Fitness is a pioneer product that launched into the world of Exergaming and spawned a number of successor versions and products. While it is still possible to get new copies for the PC, PS2 and Xbox, it is also available in a new version from Ubisoft called My Fitness Coach for the Wii platform.
This site is a fan site, dedicated to provide a common forum for all the various versions and to allow people to talk amongst themselves about the products that have come from the wonderful team at ResponDesign.
Yourself!Fitness is becoming hard to find, as it is only available in limited amounts for the PC, Xbox and PS2 platforms.
Ubisoft has licensed the product for the Wii and placed it under the name "My Fitness Coach", so we happily will talk with Wii owners also here on this forum. The product is exactly the same as Yourself!Fitness. See our links to view more on these products.
Feel free to register for the forums! We approve submissions manually to be sure spammers do not get into the site and will do our best to give you a great place to talk about Maya and getting fit!
To get a copy, visit:
- Amazon X-Box copy or the Amazon PC-Edition as well as the My Fitness Coach version
